Certificated Classes

Beyond Limits introduces the foundation principles for those unfamiliar with Science of Mind. Topics include oneness, prayer, (also called spiritual mind treatment), the reciprocal universe (the law of attraction), the creative process, hidden beliefs and other essential principles.

New Foundations of the Science of Mind presents a new spiritual principle to reflect on each week and a spiritual practice to support that principle. The Creative Process is introduced at the beginning of the class and then flows through each week allowing students to see and experience how these principles work in our lives.

The Essential Ernest is a loving tribute to Dr. Ernest Holmes and the wisdom he brought to our world. The course is based upon the book What We Believe.   Each week students examine these ideas and uncover ways to make this teaching come alive in their lives. Each week features a meditation that takes students progressively deeper and deeper into the light to find inner truths.

The Power of Your Word teaches spiritual mind treatment, another name for prayer. Each week is a thoughtful approach to deeper understanding: the impact of creative law and beliefs, what to pray for, affirmative prayer treatment, the state of continuous prayer, and how the nature of God and man create prayer.

Visioning is an introduction to visioning, a powerful tool. It includes the history of how visioning began in our movement with the inspiration of Dr. Michael Beckwith of Agape International.  It offers experiences with visioning from the individual level to the global scale.

Meditation is More Than You Think is an introductory meditation class that moves step by step using the powerful tool of meditation in many different modalities. Topics include meditation with light, mantras, sound, movement, breathing and more.

Other Classes

Qigong – (pronounced chee-gung) is an ancient Chinese moving meditation that is passed down in families from generation to generation. It is similar to TaiChi in that it uses slow movement to settle the mind. Some of its many benefits include relaxation, balancing energy, and strengthening your immune system. The class is appropriate for any fitness level, any age. Barb Nicholson, who has been a practitioner of Qigong for over 20 years, will teach this dynamic 6 session course. $125 for all six classes or $25 a session.

Fountain of Youth – also known as the Five Tibetan Rites, teaches a very low impact exercise that utilizes just 5 basic movements, making it efficient & easy to remember. While the exercises are simple, the potential results are vast, including increased strength & muscle tone, increased bone mass and mental acuity, and stress relief. The class is appropriate for any fitness level, any age, especially adults age 40 or more. Join Barb Nicholson for this class and learn how to calm your life and strengthen your body.

Sessions focus on a number of quick, easy options that you can use at work, at home, even driving, to help you to be more focused and more aligned with your purpose. We all have inner energy--this course will teach you how to use it to your benefit. See Rex Oxley's Natural Mandala at Beacon of Life Spiritual Center Feb. 1-June 1 – Ohio artist Rex Oxley's Natural Mandala will hang at Beacon of Life Spiritual Center, 5701 Murray Ave., Cincinnat, OH 45227-2819 from Feb. 1-April 30. During the time is mandala is displayed, services will focus on spiritual deepening and meditation workshops will be offered. Please note that on Sunday, April 18 the Mandala will be Victory of Light.

"Creating a six-foot square, ten-inch deep vertical sculpture that is rendered exclusively in organic material, has the presence to convey visual information even down to an infinitesimal level that is completely authentic," says the artist.

"When you combine that with so many varieties, species and types of organic materials, within the scope that it has been given, these elements converge into a powerful image that becomes an interactive vehicle for meditation, contemplation, and personal restoration rather than as a presentational work of art."

Reporter Sara Pearce described the mandala as "a fascinating and intricate piece made with leaves, seeds, pods, bark, moss and much more."

Meet the artist at a reception on Friday, Feb. 20 from 6:30 to 8:30. Oxley will lead the first how-to-meditate workshop based on his natural mandala 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb 21. Fee is $15. Another meditation workshop will be offered 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 26.

He will also participate in an Earth Day celebration using the mandala at Beacon of Life 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 22.

The Natural Mandala was conceived and created to facilitate in a healing process as well as serving as an instrument for teaching and as a beacon for nature preservation, Oxley says. "The prime intention for this potent image is to actuate a shift in the conscious mind, leading the viewer through shifting modalities toward a calm and balanced center in preparation for meditation."

Rev. Linda Ketchum, founding minister at Beacon of Life, the region’s only member of the United Churches of Spiritual Living, says the mandala will be a wonderful aid with the guided meditations that are part of the Sunday services.

For centuries, mandalas have held a role in spirituality and meditation for many cultures and religions. Combining the spiritual implications of the circle with natural materials creates a very impressive artwork with a wonderful feel, says Rev. Ketchum. It also illustrates the Center's respect for the earth and environment.

Oxley says, "The Natural Mandala is a metaphor for man’s connection with nature, his own re-connection with his inner being, his place within nature and his constant pursuit to understand his world and All That Is." See his website at www.naturalmandala.com
